A finish changes how a stone reads
The same stone can look different when the surface finish changes. Gloss affects reflected light; a less reflective surface changes the way color and pattern are perceived. Always compare the proposed finish on the chosen material, rather than assuming the catalog image shows the finish you will receive.
Polished and honed surfaces
A polished sample has a reflective appearance. A honed sample is usually discussed as a smoother, less reflective alternative. These names alone do not specify every production detail. Ask to see and approve the finish standard before material is cut or finished.
Textured finishes
A textured surface may change both appearance and cleaning requirements. Availability depends on the material and processing. Ask whether the proposed treatment is suitable for your specific stone, dimensions and application. Texture should not be treated as a substitute for documented suitability where slip resistance matters.
